It has a history of more than 1,300 years a political, economic, cultural and transport center of the region. Lhasa has an area of 30,000 square km with a population of 400,000. Lhasa is home to the Tibetan, Han as well as other ethnic groups, but the Tibetan ethnic group makes up about 80 percent of the total population.Lhasa has many monestries and monuments where you can visit and learn about the culture and religion such as: Potala palace, Jokhang Temple,Barkhor Street,Drepung, Sera, Norbulingka and Ganden Monastery.
